You start with a screenshot, and depending on your inclination to make it fancy, you can produce either an avatar that goes on the left or a signature block. They do have size requirements (both file size and actual measurements) so if you have any questions just ask Tanliel. He may also have to upload the sig file for you once you get it done.

I read that the best screenshots for these kinds of purposes are taken in Sanctus Seru - the light there is very good and there is an almost white background, easy to crop out if you need to do so.

You take a screenshot....

Pick a cool place and then do a different angle by using the F9 camera...once you see what you want then use the minus "-" key and then get a spiffy photo editor and crop the screenshot....

OR

take the screenshot and send it to Tanliel with instructions of what and how you want it to look....and he will fix ya right up!!!

I cropped out an image I'd taken a while back and altered the image size and then saved for web on Adobe Photoshop to make the avatar the right size. I would imagine the same would be done for those bigger pictures, although some of those designs will require a little bit more time to create (something I've been too lazy to play with heh).
