I can't find the post now, but I swear I saw on the EQLive forum that there would be an upgrade to the Coldain prayer shawl with the new expansion. It was said to require 300 in all tradeskills plus a raid at the end.

I guess it depends on what the stats are, but I think it would have to be amazing for me to want to do that many tradeskills. I thought I might have even destroyed mine, but I do still have it.

Anyone up for it?

I can confirm (it's on the public tradeskill board) that there is an upgraded Shawl in the works as Allegretta described it. ( 300 in all skills, will require the old shawl, with a final raid event to 'finish' it in the end). No idea on the stats but it will be comparable to the gear in TUF. (Probably similar if not better than Erons is to SoF gear). It also will NOT necessarily go live (or completely live) by the time TUF launches, but will roll out at some point.

Also, the game doesn't have any 'flags' to tell if you have completed the first shawl or not, so if you did it and deleted it, you regretfully will have to do it again. if you did do it and still have the shawl, you should be good to go.

Just a quick note to clarify on that...

Most of the steps of the new shawl will be targeted to group level, and the result will be a nice high-end but group-level item (very desirable for most). No raiding will be required for this award (last I saw).
The LAST step will allow end-game raiders to "power-up" the shawl to be appropriate for their use, and will require a drop from one of the new raids.

Hope this makes sense... basically, there is something for everyone (not just end-game raiders).

I'm glad they finally decided to do this. The Coldain prayer shawl quest is still one of the best quests in the game.

I've done the walk many times for others, but never managed to tradeskill it myself (think I got up to the third or fourth level before quitting). I can always drool over you-all's shawls though

I was actually planning on doing my final walk tonight if anyone wants to come along. I had all the parts ready to go before I left, and when I came back I just didn't feel the need to finish it with how obsolete the shawl has become. I do want to finish it just to have it done though (plus those armor pieces were taking up a lot of valuable bank space).

I could probably solo the walk, but it just seems better safe than sorry. After all I don't want to spend any more time farming shawl combines than I already have.

Were you able to do the shawl crawl last night, Merlaina? I had planned to help but my ISP decided to go on an extended coffee break not long after I had my group buffed up for the evening.

If not, I'll help whenever you're ready to do it. If you got it already - grats! That's one of my favorite quests to do in EQ.

Yep, got my shawl, wore it for about 5 minutes, and then banked it. Ridiculously easy now. A ranger buddy of mine came along, but it wasn't even remotely necessary. I think the hardest anything hit me for was 104. But MAN the general walks slowly. For one of the longer walks we even toyed with the idea of getting aggro on him and then running him to the next spot and then membluring, but decided not to risk it.

Yeah, not only does that stupid general walk slowly but he has an inflated idea of how tough he is. Don't know how many times he had to be saved and THEN he piled into the guys who were trying to save him. Memblur is too good for him!

From what I understand don't you need 300 in all tradeskills to do this quest anyway? If that doesn't speak to their patience, I don't know what does. I can't really imagine anyone having 300 in all tradeskills and then NOT doing this quest.
