For about 2 weeks now....about every 5 times zoning..eq crashes to the desktop. Screen goes black, and message pop up comes up stating something like exe.game error, everquest had to close. I've seen other posts here similar to this one. Was there a working solution? (non-expensive one anyways)

Thanks

Mac

I still have it happen, but not as frequently. I haven't done anything to fix it, so I don't have any advice. :(

My working solution is after zoning multiple times, I log out and back in. Sometimes I even reboot my machine.

This was especially true when doing the 10th anniversary quests.

Thanks for the tips.

All it says to me is eqgame.exe has encountered an error and must shut down.

It only does this when I zone. If it does not do this, then i can remain in zone for as long as I want..or atleast until normal LD problems occur.

There was a thread on the EQLive forum, and someone recommended updating DirectX. I did that, but it didn't make any difference on my machine.

EQ is known to have a memory leak. They seemed to have found it and fixed it at one time but with succeeding patches it seems to have returned.

It might be an xp-specific issue or at least the game's interaction with 32-bit DirectX libraries. I run 64-bit Vista, 3-boxing...absolutely zero issues with LD/crashes/whatever. Not really "advice" per se, I know..just an observation and another data point to consider.

Not an xp issue. I run xp and never have any issues. Maybe try turning down some of your environmentals like the sky. Just a suggestion.

Well....it would seem it was eq in some manner. The latest patch seemed to fix the problem.
