Just to be sure, do you have any other copies of EQ on that computer? Just want to make 100% certain you are running from the right directory and there aren't any ghost settings messing things up. You may want to rename all directories with EQ in it, and try running one of them again.

Otherwise, I'm not sure. Instead of petitioning, try posting on the Tech Support boards on the EQ Forums. Even if you don't get an orange name answer there, someone may recognize the problem and give you a solution.

And I'm not sure if he'll have time to respond or not, but try PM'ing SKlug on the EQLive boards. He's the Coder who tends to end up with a lot of these thorny compatibility problems. ( http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/user/ ... _id=175316 ). Make sure you outline everything you have tried.

When's the last time you downloaded and installed the latest directx 9 update from microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en)? If you have a rather old version, it's possible that the last patch is trying to make a system call that doesn't exist in the old version or is handled poorly, causing the crashes. Just a thought...

i have my dual core tuned down on my machine just for eq, any and every time ive had trouble with eq(3 times since the summer) ive searched the tech forums with the error , or just search with crashing, and found a few things id never thought of.
i ran for 2 months with crashing at character select but would sooner or later let me in this was a bad stick of memory , that stick of memory passed a mem test, try removing sticks and trying them in different slots this worked for me and was a last ditch effort only other thing i can think of is say delete eq re load and patch get updated for video cards ect

can you play other games on the internet? if you can id say delete eq and reload
