Just to be sure, do you have any other copies of EQ on that computer? Just want to make 100% certain you are running from the right directory and there aren't any ghost settings messing things up. You may want to rename all directories with EQ in it, and try running one of them again.
Otherwise, I'm not sure. Instead of petitioning, try posting on the Tech Support boards on the EQ Forums. Even if you don't get an orange name answer there, someone may recognize the problem and give you a solution.
And I'm not sure if he'll have time to respond or not, but try PM'ing SKlug on the EQLive boards. He's the Coder who tends to end up with a lot of these thorny compatibility problems. (
