Most programs will read in the .bmp format and allow you to convert them to other formats.

It's a really easy to use program like paint, that allows you to resize and save images as different types. When you install the program, you can have all of your image files open with it... it can read a lot of different picture formats, including the most common ones.

Once i take my screen shot, i open them up in that, resize them, then file >> save as >> .jpg

In your eqclient.ini file, add or change this line:

"ScreenshotType=JPG"

that'll save them as JPG, rather than BMP, thus avoiding the
self-translation step.
