They are considering a change to the way items are awarded through the DKP (Dragon Kill Points) system. (This doesn't really have anything to do with dragons per se; it's just the common name for the way raid attendance points are calculated.)

Way too convoluted to even comprehend (at least for me)

First question, do you comprehend the system AS IT IS?

If you do not, that's a good place to start.

I'll be happy to explain each of the system that have been proposed, as I've talked with Legeran extensively about them all.

I voted. In my case I went with the Current system with exceptions for Time raids since the current system seems to work except on the Time raids where so many items drop but the later phase items are deffinately worth more. My second choice would be to keep the current system and my third would be the bid system. Most of the choices seemed "ok" except for Option 6 No Limits which I think would be bad news. None of them are perfect, and folks are starting to post on the AR forums, pointing out problems they have seen with each of the different systems.

Here are the options that are being voted on.

Option 1 - The Current System

my very very long winded thoughts about the dkp systems.. this is going to be simply the good and bad i can find from any of these..

option one:current system..

works great with the idea that the loot is distributed evenly..
works bad for thsoe that raid very often with lots of dkp wont be able to get two items instead of one (or however many that the mass believes is a feasible amount)

option 2
i think this is very fair.. mainly becuase of the fact that alot of times people will hold out for something on dkp and not ask for loot otherwise they could get because the class dropped the item.. now one would think its leading to more then one loot per raid and yes that is pssible but here is an example where it would really not be helpful..

tan and i want a songblade of the eternal.. i dont ask for anything during the raid at all hopeing the the songblade for the eternal drop.. tan bids and wins on an item that he wants previous to the blade.. waiting and waiting and waiting for innoruuk which is the next to last mob without gettign anythign and seeing tons of things drop innoruuk goes down with no songblade.. myth is out of luck now and has only quarm loot to bid on and the odds of winning maybe incredibly slim since its what alot of peopel will be bidding in for. so now tan has loot and myth may not and its been 8 hours of raiding hoping for something..

now ofcourse in real life it wouldnt make a difference to me becuase im the type of person that if it did drop id let tan have it first anyways.. but im not the normal im the exception when it comes to loot and dkp..

option 3 i honestly have no idea what a tiered system would even look like so i am skipping it

option 4 a bid system
this involves open bidding now the benefits of it are simple.. you can determine how much dkp its worth for you and helps you realize the value of the upgrade or not..

the bad.. everyone has to know what their dkp is.. i honestly have no clue nor do i have interest in keeping tabs of this and im sure legeran gea terez and zhent will be pulling their hair out when they see people not calculating propertly nad having to track all of this..

the other bad .. everyone bids on amounts and te dkp value will be too fluid.. one day i can get a songblade for 5 dkp and the next i can get it for 500 should the bidding happen.. and neither of them are necessarily viable amounts to pay for an item like that..

option 5 -
i have no idea what the exceptions involve like how many loots will be granted per person or not .. this can help becuase alot of times this will lead people to hold off for later tiered items if they know they are bidding on something not worthwhile in compared to what will be graanted in a hour or so..

option 6 - no limits

this can be good if someone has self control.. but could be bad if the same person starts draining their dkp to get twinked up in one fight and never return.. also this could lead to alot of unbalanced looting.. it should spread out to more then lets say the top ten dkp raiders grabbing 4 loots every time raid alone becuase they can ..

Before I came back to playing EQ I actually played WoW. I can honestly tell you that guilds have fought horribly and even completely disbanded because of the DKP system. Not that I am saying we shouldnt use it, I just want to exercise EXTREME caution on how and what type of DKP system should be used.

I rarely if ever ask for an item or will roll on one that is not useable by the class i am playing at the current time. thrrefore i think the current system withclass exceptions would be best. in fact I like it that WoV groups are good about giving an item that is class specific to the member in the group or raid that is of the class that can use it
