It's always hard to see a member of the family move on, but I understand and wish you and yours the very best Drexx. Here's to hoping that maybe sometime in the future circumstances in RL will be such that, you might once again feel the call to venture forth into the land of norrath and visit us in EQ, you will be missed.

After thinking about this overnight, there are a few more things I want to add. Disclaimer: This is not meant to make Drex feel guilty about leaving or to try to change his mind.

Drex, you're part of what makes WoV what it has become today. I completely admire your determination to play this game your way. Levels, gear, expansions meant little to you unless they furthered YOUR vision of the game. It has always been my goal to remember that EQ *is* a game, and if I'm not having fun, then what's the point?

I always enjoyed the raids you led. I loved being part of the original Dragon Hunters, and if it hadn't been for that mission, Cin would probably still be a level 38 wizard, languishing in Kunark. You gave our guild a goal and a method of doing something few people get to do, and today's Dragon Hunters certainly owe some of their knowledge and technique to your earlier leadership.

Your necro 1.0 epic guide is recognized game-wide as a standard. I still remember our first week on Luclin when our group was asked in GE in /ooc if we were the guild that Drexxell was from.

Your Plane of Sky write-up is as complete as the game will see for any zone, and the raids were a pleasure to attend.

As Haams posted earlier, it's been an honor and a pleasure traveling alongside you these past years.

/salute to you, our Sky Captain and Little General. I hope you find other games and adventures that you enjoy as much as you enjoyed EQ.

With your guide and leadership through Sky, I was able to get my 1.0 which was my singlemost reason for playing EQ, so I must thank you. You made the impossible, possible. The willingness to help out and the leadership that you have shown in game must reflect yourself in the real world, and I applaud that. Your family is truly blessed.

Drexx uopi will be missed by all of the Wayfs i am sure . just last night Nyt and I were talking about yout Old world dragon hunters and reliving some of the pleasures we hasd in leveling ours together. and as we are both planning on starting Drakkins on Sept 19 we are hoping that we can have as much fun and comradship taking them on to higher levels as we did our dragon hunters. (in tthe instance of the OWDHunters you inspired the whole guild to ork toward a common cause never fear you will alwayd be remembered with extremely happy thoughts and i am sure all of WoV wants everything in RL aand game to go to your benefit. (you will be one of those that new guildies will be regaled wih tales about{i.Mal, do you tremember when Drexx did such and such I especially enjoyed attempting to help you out on your hunts. for 1.5 drops and for the Great Item Hunts. if things go such that you feel you have the time and inclinatioon to return to EQ give a shout and i will come runningas fast as i canit will be hard for anyone to live up to the goals you set for yourself and the goals you inspiredothers to set for themselvesinspiredothers( I do not think I know of anyone that could set up a treasure hunt to match yours. in causing people to think about what you were really asking to be found(like the time we had to find a nNexus trandport gem (people really had to find to interpret what you asked for and whenwe all got back to you wih the items we had accqyired and you actually told us what was needed wewere hitting ourselves on the head thinking why didn't i think of that. never fear the Liyttlt Grneral will always rule supreme

I'm humbled. And I thank you all for your kind thoughts and words.

As Alley pointed out, I don't pay much attention to anything that doesn't directly affect my enjoyment of the game (including my account balance). As such, I have only learned that I re-subscribed (automatically) for another year back in June.

I've cancelled the account, but of course SoE being a business, isn't about to give a refund. My account remains active until next June. I won't be spending much time on EQ between now and then, but it at least gives me the chance to consider doing a few things that I really would like to do before walking out the door forever. I may do none of these things, but if I can find the enthusiasm, they would include making good bye gifts, giving away things on characters and (thanks to a long phone conversation with Talinoth) doing things that I'd never do if I was staying forever...such as picking a fight with the Freeport guards and not stopping until the entire city is chasing me...or determining once and for all how bad a faction hit I get if I kill Sirran.

So, I'm pointed at the door. I may not be in game for a week or a month, but then you may see me sporadically. I'll be a board stalker of course...hard to quit that habit. If playing EQ were as easy, fast and enjoyable as checking the guild's board, I'd play forever
