Wayfarers of Veeshan

Our good friend Rogier, one of WoV's earliest members, is resigning his position as elder of our guild. He will remain an officer.

In honor of his contributions he has received the title of "Lorekeeper," and it is our hope that he will continue to share the best of WoV's traditions and memories with this guild.

Thank you for your years of service, Rogier. I hope real life permits you more time for EverQuest.

Well where to begin.....

Rogier and I met a long, long, long, and did I say, long time ago in a long forgotten game called Legends of Kesmei aka LoK. We had similiar playtimes and I was very much a newb at the online gaming thing. He showed me the ropes in that game and over time, he sort of faded away from his play time with me....later I was to find out he had been doing this beta for a game called Everquest. He tried to tell me about how you could get lost in the town (Freeport), but how much different the gameplay was between EQ and LoK. He stayed after me for along time to come play this Everquest with him. He finally gave up trying to convice me to buy the game, so instead, he purchased it and had it sent to my house. So it is Rogier I hold personally responsible for my EQ addiction.

Rogier Goodhealer was his first born toon. He had about 20 levels or so when Lacries was born. So that Rogier and I could continue our partnership in the world of good and evil, he created his second toon, a Ranger named Rogieraxe. Typically where you would see one, you would see the other. Rogieraxe and Lacries was a formidable team when together. After Rogieraxe finally grew up to be around the same level as Lacries and was close to Rogier, that is when the cleric came back into the limelight. So then it became the Lacries and Rogier duo :p

I find it most appropriate and fitting that Rogier be the one to keep the lore of Wayfarers alive so that any new member and present members will always have the evolving story of where the Wayfarers came from and where they have been. Congratulations my friend....I do wish you could get back to the game more often. One day perhaps you can do just that.

Keepers of the Elements

Thank you for the title of lorekeeper. I'll try to keep up to the title.

I remember a problem I had back in the day of beta. On my very first day entering the world, I could not identify anyone. All I saw was a display of white rectangular and circular objects, no color, no textures, no shades, mostly some white, some black and some gray. Everyone looked the same. Not even the player labels were readable. One my first impressions was "this is a really crummy game." At least the chat window worked so I was able to converse, but if I got too far from my partners, they would blend into the rest of the players, all white, all generic, and I would get lost.

I talked with my friends who lured me to the beta and we were able to determine the problem. It turned out I did not have a good enough video card! Once I installed the card and I was able to finally see what all the buzz was about with this game. I saw the game in all its glory and splendor and I saw that it was good! For a moment, I was in danger of never being getting into Everquest, having had such a bad first experience with it, but I guess the Gods of Everquest intervened. Anyway, from that point on, I played and quested...Everquest'ed that is.

For me, the world of Everquest started with a world of white rectangles and circles and it morphed into a wonderful, colorful world, with these friends. Soon after, when Everquest went live, I, Rogier was born into the world, exploring for awhile with some friends, then helping form the Wayfarers. It's been alot of fun! We've gone so many places and helped so many players, who've carried that forward and helped even more players, over and over. That's where this guild is now.

Thank you Alley, Tan, Drex, Lac, Myth, Mal, Haams for all your tributes. It sure brings back some fond memories!

P.S. Haams, you were talking about Rogier Goodrinker before he finally straightened up and took up his studies at the cleric guild in Felwithe. He was almost sent to the wrong place when he first tried to enroll, still partially hung over, and said, "I want to be a *hiccup* CLERK *hiccup*" and they told him to goto Erudin to apprentice in the bank. But he was able to graduate from Felwithe after many moons of killing skeletons and pixie tricksters. To this day, one of the Felwith cleric guild bodyguards holds a grudge against him and runs him off every time. Rogier knows where he is not wanted in Felwithe, but he is very glad to belong to the Wayfarers

WOW! Where does one begin?

Well, Rogier first befriended my brother, back when this game was in it's infancy. There were many times when my brother (playing Berrin) our RL friend Norrin and my high elf pally Claen (before he was nerfed by me so I could play this toon) would be running around WC hunting those undead gnolls! I'm sure Rog can remember the many sessions of Berrin falling asleep at the comp while the rest of us were hunting away. Free XP for Berrin!

Rogier was the officer who invited the first of my toons into WoV. I was in Sons of Steel, not sure if any of the older peeps remember them, and they were going through a break-up. I was grouped with Rogier and Livo (I think) in the Rathe mountains and he offered a spot to me.

Thank you Rog, not only for the invite to the best guild on Veeshan but also for the great friendship to myself and my brother and the wonderful memories!

As we say in the Navy.........

Rogier the Lorekeeper. Quite fitting for one so old... er I mean for such an experienced Wayfarer!

Rogier was right there when I was invited to join WoV, and for that I am greatful. He is one of the key players that molded WoV into what it is today; A great family guild with a core of players that have been in this guild for over 5 years!

Here's to hoping you continue to return and add your wisdom to WoV

north ro...Lizzie and i were swattin bugs there at level 5 or 6, possibly a little higher
Rogi and Deado apparently had known each other previously (which i later found out was true...from LoK, of all places!), Rogi stopped by to chitchat...next thing i knew Lizzie says 'i will join ya guild, Rogo'

a moment later a box pops up that says 'Rogier wishes you to join Wayfarers of Veeshan'

so i never looked back and never had a single regret
