When dinging 50 meant time to help other people ding 50, get that raid force up and try to break into the Planes.

The tutorial was a seperate program that had you start out as a cleric named Soandso on a little island, and you had the pleasure of nuking a skeleton while learning how to play. The skeleton didn't drop anything btw.

Someone was always buffing sows and heals at WFP gate, and someone else was always asking for a bind.

Sgt Slate was always camped, and often fought over.

People spent days working on unlocking the firepots (do a google on Everquest Firepots for some good oldskool reading)

Cazic Thule was the coolest place to be at 30. (let's work up the pyramid, should be easy enough...)

And lastly... cleric armor was gold, bard armor was blue, rangers were green, paladins were silver, and the monks wore very little. Most casters wore FBR, SMR ( if like, totally uber) , oracle, or the occasional solid green GSD

Remember when a shaman or druid with SOW could make few plat escorting a player on a Run from qeynos to freeport, yep run the whole way.
Remember when Dorn was the worst person to meet in Nro and sand giants wandered the oasis without being killed.
Remember paying 8 plat for a minitar axe, later paid 200 plat for a BIB's (blackened Iron bastardsword) so I could to a whopping 40 damage with a 2hs once i reached lvl 20 and the damage cap came off.
Remeber when folks actually wore armor they looted like Bronze?
Remember when Soulfire was the only weapon in game with particle effects.

Wow Thank you for starting this thread. brang back alot of great memories. i remember alot of them. I used to hate to go to FP was always laggy for me. And then just sit there buying or selling. got boring when you couldnt do anything but just auction all the time.

I remember the good ole lockjaw hide vest that sold for 500p and was uber.
The ANcient coin in the water by the UFO in Qeynos used to sell them all the time for 75p a piece.

Took months to make real money and awhile to afford your first bag depending on the size of the bag.
I remember walking Outside of Qeynos and seeing Rude induviduals, like in Qeynos hills.. Going to WC and seeing alot of people waiting to be ported and hanging out.
Oasis always had alot of people and sometimes people would train SG's and Specs to the docks to watch the fun of people dispersing in every direction just to drop a short time later.
many People in North karana.
Always found groups in BlackBurrow and get trained up by the Qeynos hill entrance.
used to be hard getting a group in High Hold Pass fighting the orcs there.
South karana Split Paw spires used to be almost Impossible to get a group there.
Aviaks in South Karana same story.

The good old days. Can't bring it back but have great memories of the Old World

I also remember Ranger protest in Kelathin, protesting the damage caps to those over level 50...

I remember getting lost in West Karana, running all over the place, without maps.

When Bronze was the uber plate...those were the days!

-When some legendary "Sleeper" still had 4 keepers that dropped uber gear
-When hybrid classes only had 1 quest-only spell

An ode to tradeskills:
-when banded armor took you to smithing 188!
-when there wasn't anything called jumjum
-when you could only have 1 tradeskill hit 250 (which was considered unheard of)
-when fletching a different type of string actually mattered
-when neither Tunare or Karana had blessed a bow
-when dragon steaks were THE uber stat food
-when there was no such thing as a stat drink
-when people would still buy your silver-based jewelry
-when ceramic lining DIDN'T stack
-when geerloks were the hot "new" tradeskiller item
-when a Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl was the ultimate prize of a tradeskiller
-when it was impossible to brew past 248
-when there wasn't a tackle box
-when you could buy a sewing kit that had 10-slots
-when there was no such thing as a loom
-when trolls and iksars did not have cultural smithing
-when one could tailor Wu's and actually sell it for profit while skilling
-when spell research wasn't considered a tradeskill
