Wayfarers of Veeshan

A question for all you serious web surfers out there;

Recently I was having a discussion about EQ with some friends of mine and the question was raised about how I decided on server to start on. Well, my story is... you could orient the list by population then (I'm not sure you can do that now) and I chose the server at the bottom of the list thinking that was the least populated. Oops! Since I had no point of reference to what was crowded I stuck with it. I also spent about two hours playing longer than I intended due to not knowing how to 'exit' the game.

Anywho... my question is; Are there websites that discuss any rating system among the various servers? Not just by population, but by people that actually play on more than one that have reasons for preference over another.

Used to you could rank them by population, but about two years ago they took that feature off, saying the server totals divulged proprietary information that Sony didn't want their competitors to have.

I started playing on Veeshan because my son played here. Even when I started (in February of 2000) it was more crowded than other servers because Veeshan was one of the first servers open to the Japanese players.

From various message boards I go to, I have the impression that Veeshan is one of the more civil servers to play on. My hair stands on end when I read about behavior on other servers. I don't know of any one website that ranks this kind of thing though.

I started on this server because a friend who showed me the game was on this server. (Oswego)

my sons friend who played EQ was on veeshan ,so my son also picked veeshan so he could play with him, but once ,he let me kill a bat with his char and latter that night snowcap was born .
so thats how i ended up on veeshan

unfortunately as alley said before no one would have access to those numbers of population.. i started on rallos cuz my freind "curita" was already playing on there .. and yes the behaivoir on those servers are quite different.. i started here cuz hubby did whats you did and click on population rank and chose veeshan

I was so EQ-illiterate when I first got the game. I actually never bought it -I got a free 10-day trial version of the game with a magazine I bought thanks to a tip from one scaley shadow knight. Kahmon came over to my dorm room at like 12 o'clock at night one day and helped me 1) download the Directx driver which I had no idea I needed, and 2) helped me get started. He was already playing on Veeshan and said he'd create a ranger (Vektor) for my character to play with. I didn't have a clue what I was doing, but hey if he was on the server there was no reason for me not to be. From what I recall, at the time the server had the most players (and boy was GFay crowded back then). Kah also told me that Veeshan also had the largest amount of high-end players from any of the other servers. I don't know if that's true anymore though, but I do recall that about a year ago, Veeshan had the most epics attained running in close with Firiona Vae

I used to play a game called Gemstone III. I had played it for about 5 years and a good friend of mine started playing EQ. She asked me to try it out and I agreed, so I joined Veeshan server as that is where her characters were.

I started on Veeshan also because Oswego, Also a RL friend / worked with him, got me started. I managed to hold out almost a year before I bought it tho

I think the servers are ranked with the most people at the bottem of the list.

I have an interesting story on how I came to veeshan. I had learned about EQ from surfing the web but never thought I would get to play it. It was pay per month and I didn't have a credit card back then.

The reason I was intersted in EQ so much was because I played Dungeons and Dragons with a few friends which got me hooked on RPGs. That lead me to the Fantasy genre of books which got me into anime and playing Magic the Gathering and creating my own games.

My first character was a Half-Elf Warrior on Quellious server. From my brief time on that server I had a bad experience with a bard. She threatened to have me reported because we both wanted the same camp.
I leveled my warrior to 15 but an odd thing happened. I was in NRO camping dervs and then suddenly I got booted. When I logged back in my character was there but he was naked. I couldn't find a corpse or reason why I died and there was no possible way he could have been killed. Well, I petitioned but nobody answered. That was the end of EQ for me for a while.

A couple of months later I moved to Tampa FL, got my own computer and started up EQ again. I thought it would be way cool if I played on the server named after the Crystalline Dragon which was Veeshan. This is when I started my Ranger. Greater Faydark was crowded back then but you could find people to group with easy. I have so many good experiences and a few bad ones playing on Veeshan but overall I won't trade them for anything.

I actually started on The Nameless Thanksgiving of 2002, where I still have a 35 druid and 39 chanter. I started there because in the population rankings it showed as being a less populated server.

Two to 3 months after I started playing EQ on Nameless, I became acquainted with another player who was very fun to group with and helped me learn a lot of different zones. One night he asked me to start a toon on Veeshan to go to a birthday/fishing party with him there. Yes, it was Puddinghead's birthday and this is when I met Puddinghead and Allegretta, and also got to meet Malbro (who I had met on Nameless as Tarostar). I had a blast and did not know at the time that I was with 4 officers of WoV (Puddinghead, Allegretta, Malbro and the crazy elf that brought me over - Lively, who does live up to his name)

Soon thereafter I started Rhennium here on Veeshan and now have many friends here that I would hate to ever lose contact with.

I started on Quellious server because a friend told me to. Later a co-worker told me to go to Veeshan and recently I started on Sullon Zek with another friend. From what I have played on the Zek server it is a gloomy and distrustful place. I told an apprhensive greenie (who walked up to me while I was medding) what level I was so he proceeded to log on to his main and kill me in about 4 hits. All in all not in favor of the Zeks. Occasionally I check my 39 Ranger on Quellious and I find it interesting to see how prices in the bazaar can actually vary from server to server. Also when I played on Quellios kei was called c3. When I requested c3 from a chanter on Veeshan he looked at me crazy, but perhaps I was simply taught wrong by one crazy chanter on Quellious. I would say that most of the servers are probably gonna be pretty similar with the exception of the Zeks and Firiona Vie. On FV server since you only get one character I would imagine that people are much more civil. Still when my friends said they were going to play again I chose to stay on this server. I definetly consider Wayfarers and Veeshan my home.

As young as Tan looks, he's been around for a looong time now. Tanliel started with several others who would be Wayfs at some point on opening day, having been playing with my buds during the last beta period. Actually I went and grabbed 3 or 4 copies the first day EQ was on sale ... one for me and one foe each of the other guys ...

We decided on Veeshan and here we be years later. Tsai, Celone, Felgarn, and Tanliel.
