Zbik moves his chat window to the left, just a bit, NO that's too far....back to the right...ack too far....2 pixels left.....1 pixel right...but I went up 3 pixels....grr....2 pixels down....1 pixel down.....2 pixels right.....1 pixel left....there....that's it......hmmm...no that's no good....resize....4 pixels left....must remember to lock windows next time....must line up perfectly......no seams.....no gaps....

Hehe yep...we have found Zbik's AR side :)
It's just something I like to do. I'll sit there for an hour and play with the layout, then camp. It's a game in and of itself for me. Rarely do I use the same setup for more than about a week :)

I have looked at a few and, so far, have decided to stay with the default.

The reason?: All the friggin UI are for a higher resolution than I use. I can't find any to fit my 17" monitor and 1024X768 resolution.

Many people play in 1280x1024 mode -- I did when I had a 17" screen, still do with a 19" screen.

I was thinking about going to 1600x1200, but I wanted the highened refresh rate vs. the highened resolution, so I stayed at 1280x1024.

So the screenshot that I posted last night is a 1280x1024 screen that was shrunk down to 800x640 for the purpose of posting.

I've been saying this for over a year, but one of these days I'll post my windows I've made to eqinterface :)

Llaffer your UI is very similar to mine is the base of it SARS 4.0 if it really is a great UI. Will have to make a screen shot of mine and post it.

Sigh and to think, I just went ahead and tried to upgrade my DX to 9.0. Guess what... I rebooted it and had the message......

Windows cannot upgrade from 1% to 2%. It threw my PC into a loop and I had to totally reset all my parameters to basics to get access to my PC again. And you want to put a UI in that mix. Not on my PC...

Every patch I spend an evening working on fixes to my UI. It's not so bad if you use the default UI for things you rarely look at, or don't spend most of your time looking at. Things such as container windows, bank windows, or loot windows. Most of the work is just cutting and pasting in changes. I set up a Visual Studio solution containing all my custom XML files; makes it easier to find out if the changes are to one of my custom windows.

Pretty much the only custom windows I use are the everyday ones, buffs, spells, player, group, target. Those don't change much from patch to patch, with the exception of some icons.

The less specialized your UI is in terms of spell icons and what not the easier it is to maintain. If icons change you usually have to wait/hope for the original author to update them.

I have a program call CSDiff for Windows that I can give 2 files and it will 'diff' them for me (unix people know what I'm talking about), or I can give it 2 folders and it will 'diff' each file with similar names between them.

So I make a "copy of default" before a patch, and after the patch I run CSDiff and it will tell me all of the changes done.
