I had an incident some time ago when I was hunting in OT, on my enchanter, with a good friend of mine and our group. We were camping on the SS ramp and had been for a few hours. Then this BST comes, and while we're in the middle of a fight he pulls his mob right through our fight. In the middle of the confusion we accidentially killed his mob. He got mad and told us to stop, whereas we appologized and warned him not to pull through our fight because we would mistake his mobs for ours. We were chainpulling so mobs would come along all the time. He then did it again and we did it again by mistake. All the mobs look the same, they have no name tag on to whom they belong, and we mistook it for ours. Now he got really mad, I mean really mad, and told us not to do it again. We refreshed his memory of our warning and told him that it was on his own responsibility to pull through our camp.

I don't remember if it happened again, but the next thing I remember was that suddenly we got trained by some gargoyle-looking mobs, our cleric died and the rest made it to SS. I had chosen to be in DE illusion to my great luck and they didn't do me any harm. We got cleric rezzed, buffed up and began pulling again as we got trained one more time by some big golem-looking guards from outpost. Once again cleric died and rest made it to zone while I could do nothing but watch the slaughter and people running. I found out that the guy training us was a higher char of the BST who got mad at us. He wanted revenge for an accident we appologized for once and warned him not to continue.

Some lvl 65 friends and other people came to watch SS zone because many others from zone had been complaining about the trains. It helped destroying the mobs, but didn't stop the guy from continuing to train us. He pulled goons, golems, gargoyles again and while I was in tell with him and his guild he expressed that he felt it was his right to train us and it would do no good to tell his guild. We petitioned, reported, talked to GM's who did nothing. His BST's guild didn't feel they could do anything, and it doesn't seem like his mains guild are going to do anything. After a while he stopped again to log on to his BST and xp on another spot. Maybe he got his anger out, maybe he felt he had gotten his revenge, I don't know what goes on in the head of such a person, but I sure felt violated, I had been presented for something completely new to me in Everquest. And that was continually deliberate training for revenge of something as pathetic and small as and accident that he could easily have avoided by chosing another spot.

I don't know what to do at this point. Things seems to have been forgotten, people move on. But I can't forget it. I talked to him again this night and he said again that he felt that it was his right, he trains people when they make him mad until he feels better. He trains people HE thinks deserves it. He ruins other peoples game experience because HE feels violated. I am disgusted by this. This episode has marked my game experience and I am quite unknowing as to how to deal with it now.

I don't want you guys to write here that this sort of stuff happens all the time, because it doesn't. At least this was the first time for me in such a degree, in such a thirst for vengeance. I would like if someone could tell me if I handled it wrongly, did anything I shouldn't have done, if there's anything I should do now etc.

May all be shielded from people like this and may they get banned from the server when some competent GM deals with their actions. That is what I hope and think should be done about a thing like this. It's a game we all play to have fun and share with the people we meet in game and get to know. Not a game we play to ruin other players moods and experiences.
Just my thoughts as they've been a while. Closing and going to bed.

Vitaliana

Hi Vitaliana,

All I can really say about this incident is, WOW! That guy must have some major issues because even a youth would not act in such a manner. If he felt he needed to train you 'until it made him feel better' it is obvious that he has anger management issues. I have been trained by groups before, but never on a continuous cycle. I am disappointed this person's guild took no action against him, and furthermore I feel that a GM should take care of an issue as large as this. You are correct in saying that people play this game for enjoyment, and it is the GMs, hired by SoE, job to insure that others are not infringing on others gaming enjoyment. I am not sure what road you should take at this point, I just wanted to show you support in finding out a proper solution.

Good luck,

The only thing I can think of is to /petition stating that he was intentionally training you.

It may be that nothing gets done, but at least the GMs can look up in the logs and verify this and give him a warning on his account if they can find it.

He admitted that he regularly trains people on purpose? Too bad you didn't get that in a /report. With repeated warnings and documented evidence it can be a bannable offense. Purposely training is described and explicitly prohibited in SOE's "Play Nice" policy.

Doesn't sound like YOU did anything wrong, but he sure did. I agree with Markas here, talk to him again.. when he says he did it on purpose and he will do it again .. /report (name) enter /petition I have a report in on (name) where he admits to purposely training me and others and will do it again.

If that doesn't work... go to SOE and write an email to the Veeshan Server GM.. that seems to work best really. The right people see it instead of a randome guide/gm.

In my eyes this is the perfect example that what the customers feelings do not matter any more to Verant or SOE. When is th last time any one has /petion
1) actually received answer
2) actually received an answer in a timely fashion
3) has seen afirmative action.

I for one have always had problems. For example a part of my epic was bugged and I lost my shiny tin bowl. I /petion 6 times over the course of 2 weeks waiting for sevral hours with no response at all. Finally I had a Guide send me a tell asking if i needed assistance, I explained the problem. Then I was told he/she couldnt help me but it will be passed on to a GM to investigate the matter further. A few days later I contacted a GM again nothing was ever resovled. To conclude after all my frustration and alot of lost work a gave up on any help waited for a patch, servers came down, reset and started the quest over.

To hear that no affermative action was taken by Verant or SEO is no surprize to me at all. Mainly because we dont pay the extra for Stormhammer but that compeletly my opion.

My point to be taken further is when was the last time anyone has seen a GM event. For those of you to new to eq to remember they where events held by GM with a reward of usally pretty nice, very rare, or one of a kind.
I remember when events where very regular and where available to all lvls for fun.

For Vitaliana, put your chin up and hold your head high. You did what is right and in time this to will pass.Whether it is EQ or RL unfortuniatly you will come across these people in your life, May it be in the supermarket parking lot or passing through Butcher Block. All that really should matter to you is when you lay in bed staring at the ceiling, think to your self "Did I make all the right decisions today" and or "Am I or was I a good person today." If you can honestly say yes to these questions, Then that is all that really will ever matter!

Thanks for all your responds. I will try to take your advise Markas and see if he will continue to say that he did it on purpose. I have only petitioned 2 times and reported 1 time in my Everquest "career". 1 of the petitions and the report was related to this matter, the other petition was when I lost my corpse in PoT recently. Didn't get reply from either of them.

I understand that there may be some people out there, in RL and in the games we play that involves other people from all over the world, but in RL if someone was to insult me, violate me, take my parking lot etc whatever I could just go smack him in the head and feel good about it afterwards. But here I can do nothing but sit and watch him train over and over again knowing that you have to be extremely lucky to get a GM's response.

Again I need to say that I had hoped his guild had done something about it, but the fact that they didn't is to me a sign that they conduct his actions. If anyone needs the guild name to know pm me, I don't feel like flaming other but a anymous person here.

But maybe I'm no better than him. He trained me and my group for vengeance, I want him banned and excluded from my sight because he trained us. It's a frail issue I think, but I just have to think about the fact that he did ruin a whole zone's game experience and did not play nice.

Thanks all

Vitaliana

Who was he? Who was his guild? I kind of skimmed all the posts, but I don't see where either of these two questions were answered.

I was actually going to start a thread today asking if anyone knew whether or not the GM/guide policies have changed. I was always under the impression that they were almost always never able to do anything helpful when it came to lost items. In the past few weeks, I have had, not one, but TWO, lost items restored to me.

The first item I lost was the final combine of the loy blood spell quests. I did the combine, got the item, then got up and went to do the turn-in for the spell and the potion was just gone. I /petitioned, a guide escalated the issue to a GM the same day. Then I wasn't able to sign on for about two or three weeks. When I was finally on long enough, I did get a response from a GM who popped up next to me in pok. Within 5 minutes of her first tell to me, she handed me the item I had lost.

Yesterday, I signed in for the first time in about a week, and I noticed that my jbb was missing! I petitioned as soon as I checked all my bags, all my bank bags, and all the bags on my other account (thinking I had somehow traded it to another char by accident). Again, a guide answered, and fairly quickly, I think it was only about half an hour or so. He asked me what happened, then escalated the issue to a GM. Well, I was just putting down my book to go to bed and I looked at my desk and saw writing in my tells window. I got up, and sure enough a GM had responded to me. Not knowing how long ago the tell had been, I appologized for not puting my /afk TRADER flag up. The GM appeared next to me, asked me to drop /trader mode, and handed me a jbb.

Anyways, I was just wondering if there had been an anouncement or something about a change in GM/guide policies. As far as I knew, GMs never gave items back, and the play nice rules were only lifted on the role playing and pvp servers.

I think part of it is that my loss was EQs fault. I had made a straight forward trade. I was not duped or blundered in anyway. It was simply their fault.
