Wayfarers of Veeshan

Well folks, this little idea has been bouncing around in my head for a while now, and as I'm still uncomfortable leading a RAID, I thought I'd try to organize something a little simpler, and out of the ordinary "hunting" of EQ....how about a....

<u>Fishing Tournament</u> this Saturday, April 26, 2003, 9pm EST.

This is not a hunt, but an organized tournament open to all guildies of all fishing levels. I'm fine-tuning the details now, but there will be at least the following tournaments going on:

1) Amateur Fisherman's Tourney (for those with Fishing < 100)
2) Pro Fisherman's Tourney (for those with Fishing >=100)
3) Special to-be-announced tourney (open to all characters level 20+, of any fishing level)

Prizes will be awarded to the winners of these tourneys. Maybe even a few 'boobie' prizes for most tattered cloth sandals or rusty daggers ...more details to follow as the week progresses.

Please meet in Butcherblock mountains, south of the docks, at 9pm Eastern Time, this Saturday night. Bring your own fishing gear. (Do not bring <i>any</i> fish with you. This will be the honor system, please don't make me inspect everyone's 8 backpacks before we begin.) I expect the tournament to only last an hour or so. Hope to see many of you there. (Could this be put on the calendar?)

I think i will most probably get one of my lasses to join in (Although most probably NOT Peri since she is KOS on the docks to the merchants due to a very unfortunate misunderstanding there in her youth.)

Are were all supposed to use standard poles and bait or can the PROs use specialized ones that enhance their ability to catch fish?

Any fishing gear is acceptable, *BUT* their modifiers must be accounted for in determining if you're in the <100 vs >=100 tournies. (i.e. a Fishing skill of 98% plus a Collapsible Fishing Pole (+5%) puts you at >=100.

There are no minimums or maximums on Fishing for the special tourney...because that will involve not just fishing, but also some problem solving and strategizing.

And, just for the record, any given
person can only be in 1 of the 3 tournies. Details on the 3rd (special) tourney will be withheld until the actual tournament, to avoid any temptation to lay groundwork ahead of time . But when I've laid out the 3rd tourney, then folks can tell me if they want to compete in the Amateur, Pro, or Special tournies.

Not to be all pushy, but if you are planning on attending this event, would you please post here so I can get an idea of the interest level and number of prizes to have, etc? I heard a few "i'll be there"'s last night, but would like to be sure that this is an interesting enough event to bother holding. (It ain't an epic raid, but you can't do that every night, can you? ) Nothing I find more embarassing than throwing a party and nobody showing up

I'm intrigued by the possiblities here ... I'll do my best to make it, but have no idea what's going on this weekend. 8pm CST ... should be doable. My Fishermans Companion needs some work.

Most likely I cannot make it being as my dad is going to be in town and we will most likely be doing the family dinner get together thing. IF I am on I love to be there because this sounds like it will be fun!...so I am a BIG if ...
