I think the actual point of the poll was would it be beneficial to their customer base if Sony was acting as the middle man in the sale between people of Sony's property, rather than people going to places like IGE and MySuperSales and other sites of that nature.

I personally have no intention of ever buying ANYTHING from someone else for dollars when I can earn it with my friends, in game. However, I dont see it as a bad thing if it will help Sony maintain their control of what is theirs, increases customer satisfaction, and gets rid of the item/plat sellers on the 'net (to a great extent).

The possible implications of SoE legalizing real life item and or plat sales are quite ironic.....

Is that what we will soon see in auction channel or bazaar? :

Buyer_01 : "Buying Stonewood Bow paying 100k plat!"
Seller_01 : "Pffft plat! if you want a Stonewood you need real $$$$!!!"

the implications go even further:

- the people that do it professionally now (Yantis etc) would propably rejoice........, now they can too use the "official" SoE Broker service instead of using middle men (who cost $$) to transfer the ....."merchandise".

- People in low income countries (3rd world for example?) working in sweatshops to farm plat for professional "ingame merchandise traders"? -> welcome to the new wonderful world of E$$$$erquest.

- your guild wanting to raid but everything camped by the professional "lewt sellers"? ..... well no problem!!! , for just 99.99 $ you can buy what you want from them .... without "having to work err play" mhmh coughs:::"

- will Plat become obsolote in favor of real currencies ?

for me this is just another step of turning the game into work, i.e. NOT FUN wich it is supposed to be /shrugs

However in refrance to Tanliels post and in some what is sony defence great idea where considering there point of veiw with customer relations

SoE probably gets countless "omg, i've been hacked! someone stole my toon!"

when in actuallity, they sold in on PA, and are now scamming it back

imagine buying something off ebay and the original seller could, at any time, get the item back by showing the serial number and original credit card use to buy it

make a safe harbor where people can trade items/toons for real money. take 5% of the trade, so what. i'm not condoning the selling of virtual property for cash, nor have i done it, but this will solve alot of headaches for both parties.

thats just sad. dont ebay dont be scammed. if this is happening i doubt no matter how much you "fix" the game pathing, Eq is going down the drain and FAST.
