Both Creative Commons and Linux popped into my brain with that hint, but I don't know any of the people associated with the development of those concepts.

The name David Susskind(sp?) comes to mind.

Alley, you are correct in that one of those two things is very closely related to the man in question. I think if I gave any stronger clues than that I would just be handing you the answer.
