One of my favorite sites - snopes.com - is where I go when I get emails that I doubt. I am opposed to passing on inaccurate information and I always check them at Snopes first. Well, they have a page that corroborates or debunks a lot of stories about Christmas that many of us have held to be truths for lo these many years.
Ever wondered where Rudolph actually came from?
Did Wal-Mart really resell a bunch of toys donated for underprivileged kids?
Who really was the armed forces individual who wrote "A Soldier's Night Before Christmas"?
There are dozens more like this. I learned more than I bargained for, but I also got more insight into why we practice some of the things we do.

And hey, were you born on Christmas Day, you lucky thing? By now you should be a pirate. Go to Snopes' to see why (hint - last one on the page).
