Congrats on your 10th Ring Vae.

I'm curious, what did you do differently this time from the others that lead to your success? It seems that the last three waves always run to Thurg no matter what. How did the raid deal with that?

Grats Vae! I'm glad we finally got those pesky giants.

Val, we 'punted' 'em with Song of Highsun. I know that really made a difference, esp. on the last wave. Had 2 or 3 that were REALLY close.

I think the bards - Tanliel and Mytheria - were without question the MVPs of this event.

Sorry I haven't posted here yet But this quest has now become a sore subject to me. I am undecided whether or not I wanna go through it all again, even though I could prolly breeze through it in about a week.

To answer your Question Vval, the Bards made the difference. Hell (yeah I said it) EVERYONE made a difference. We had alot of friends there with us and I had several Rangers.

DIFFERENCES:

1) More Rangers to track.

2) I had Wilywu in my group along with a shaman for heals. Wily did a great job keeping an eye on the pops for me and basically was there to verify WHERE the trackers were saying the pops were.

3) The RAID as a WHOLE operated as a Team and that helped exponentially.

4) Last but NOT least and the thing I FELT made the 100% complete difference was that we had 3 Bards..Mytheria, Tanliel and Singtoo.
I had the Bards and Rangers out for scouts...as SOON as there was a pop, Tanliel and Mytheria headed back to MY spot by the dorfs for punt duty. Yeah we DID have a couple close calls, but that was ONLY because the mobs were resisting alot. The best advice I can offer for this is to make sure the Bards have a shammy CHA buff them to reduce the resists.


For those that were NOT aware of what happened after the Raid. I went to turn my ring into the Dain to get the Protection of the Dain scroll...more out of curiousity than anything...and did NOT con him. He took the ring and kept it. You have to be Warmly to the Dain in order to get the scroll. NO the Dain is NOT on Coldain faction, or this would never be an issue that late in the whole line of quests. The GM's stated that this was planned this way, for the Dain to eat your Ring, and that they could not reimburse me.

No worries though, as I went to Barindu the next day and got a better earring.

Unfortunately, I don't think the letters would help Alley. I know exactly what the GM is talking about. When Vae did the turn in of Narandi's head and the 9th ring for the 10th, the Seneschal warned him about doing the turn in. He said he could turn in the ring to the Dain to get back a special reward, but if he fell out of favor with the Dain, then the Dain would keep it. Personally, I think that's a lousy stipulation, but I suppose it's been this way since the day Bentos from Povar successfully won the first Ring War.

Not sure if I wanna do this again....am still debating the merits. Even though I/WE could chew through it pretty quickly and the rewards of doing one would be worth it...I think instead I might have to pull on the tail of a certain Beastlord to get his done...*cough* not to mention any names *cough* Malbro....
