hey guys I have a question... I just bought a new digital camera and the pix are HUGE on the PC after I downloaded them. Each Pix is 2.9 mb. The only viewing programs I have on my pc are paint and windows pix/fax viewer. Is there a way to make the pix smaller?

What format are they saved in? I usually make em .jpg, sure I lose resolution, but they are generally smaller.

I have two programs to view them i_view32 and Lviewpro. These are just view programs but you can use em to change how they are stored.

they are already jpeg :( I think I might have to do something with my camera to make em smaller when I take em, but I didn't know that when I took these two pix.

You'll need to set the default resolution on the camera.

Which specific camera model do you have?

I figured out how to resize the pix on the camera, but can you make the pix themselves smaller? The ones already taken?

You have to use something like Paint Shop Pro or another graphics program to resize them.

Paint Shop Pro - http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite? ... 7024307383

and there are plenty of other packages out there, but that's the one I use. I have version 7.0 ...

Did you get any photo editing software that came bundled with your camera?

I use a dinky little Adobe Photoshop that works just fine (version 0.5, I think . . .)

You can use MS Paint to resize images pretty easilly.

Load up the image that you want to get resized into it, select "Image -> Stretch/Skew..." from the menu bar.

You'll be asked to modify the height and width by a percentage. Since you want to reduce the size, you'll want something less than 100. Since the images are so large already, you may want to go 50%/50% to start with. Be sure to reduce height and width by the same percentage, otherwise you'll start to skew the image.

You should be able to undo any steps you don't like and try again before you save it (and I would save it under a different name, in case you want to preserve the original - at least long enough for you to try again if you eventually don't like how your new image resulted)
