Post subject: | Warp Speed |
Ok Techies.. I have an issue that I haven't seen anyone else bring up yet.. I have a new computer system and loaded up EQ and played it no problem. Things were great!.. then they got better. I suddenly found my character moving faster than any character can possibly move. About 5x my max bard speed. I thought wow! cool bug.. but I was logging and I went to bed. I played my warrior last night for like 3 hours when I noticed that my character animations weren't working correctly. Then I noticed that the mobs animations weren't working right. They and I looked like as if we weren't in motion though we were in motion and attacking and all that. The graphic was of a char just standing there. Well the next time I went to pull, I was running like the Flash! Actually it was sort of sporadic.. I think I was warping more than running. But the result was that I was moving TERRIBLY fast. Any ideas why this might be happening? FYI I wanted to know if it was just me that noticed this or if it was really happening.. so I had the group watch me and they all said WOW! So I really was moving at warp speed. As some background my new systems is: AMD 64 Dual Core 4400, 1.5 gig ram, 10,000 rpm sata drive, Nvidia 6600 pci express video card 128mg ram, cable modem, um.. not sure what else would matter. Thanks in advance |

dual-core 4400? dang! that set ya back a few plat... i actually have the opposite problem (intermittantly), mostly if i run straight thru guild lobby is the same thing happening in other 'graphic heavy' games? if you turn on shadows and stuff, do you get bogged down? is the same thing happening in multiple zones? |

Hmm, I'm wondering if the dual core (more cycles per second) would have an effect on the client side processing and sending multiple updates for positioning to the server side ... |

Ok... Alle: yes I am running 9.0C Freez: Opposite of warp speed.. lag? Yes multiple zones. If I turn on shadows I get a bit of lag in POK. Not happening in other graphic heavy games < I also play America's Army now and again with no similar effect >. Tan: Huh? |

Here's on the SoE tech forums that addresses this very problem. |
