I would simply suggest that you choose one in the size/weight category that fits best for you with the following s: 1 - Get a decent video card, 64MB minimum of DEDICATED RAM. Do not get one with shared video ram. 2 - 512MB RAM expandable to at least 2GB 3 - As fast a processor as you can get, up to you Intel or AMD 4 - Get a DVD+-RW / DVD-Dual / DVD-Super Multi drive (price will determine what you get I'm sure) HDD size ... depends on what you want to do, how much storage space you need for apps, etc. Basically, and I hate to put it this way, but all computers by all manufacturers are the same ... that's right ... same components from the same vendors in Taiwan. Check the serviceability and warranty options. Call the support center first before buying. I tend not to endorse a single brand as each persons needs are different. |

Allow me to throw what little info into this that I can... I used to play EQ on my laptop (traveling for work...couldn't be away from EQ that long!)... I noticed that I couldn't get the graphics to be full screen, so called tech support for a little help. I was given the official party line: "Sony does not endorse or support the playing of EQ on laptops. We therefore can not help you" This was about 1 1/2 years ago though, so maybe it's changed. Tan, I'm impressed. You didn't even plug the laptop manufacturer for which you work. |

Thats about twice as good as my pc in about every category except my vid card (radeon 9800 pro, my baby)...EQ shouldnt be a problem. If you dont lose much $$ from the change of machines you should thank your friend |
