Thinking about either getting a mac (trying something different) or completely overhauling my box (or maybe rebuilding a new one). I was wondering if anyone plays EQ on a mac and how it holds up and what, if any, differences they're may be. holla . . . . . j/k |

I believe that macs have their own server, so you would not be able to log in to Luclin from one. |

You'd have to run the Windows emulation box on the Mac in order to login to Luclin. Dual Boot is highly NOT recommended with Mac OS. Could build a decent or super Windows box for less than half the cost of a new Mac desktop. Really just depends on what you're aiming for with the new system. |

My main EQ machine is now an iMac - umm, 20" with 2.4GHz core 2 duo, ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB. It came with 1GB memory, but I bought another 1GB for about $40 (from Fry's, don't get it from Apple). You will use BootCamp to run Windows & EQ, it is real easy to setup - but you WILL need a copy of Windows to install. I used (and recommend) XP because its much less memory demanding than Vista, which is important if you box on this machine. I run two instances of EQ on this iMac, and it runs MUCH smoother than my other machine - which is running at 3GHz, and has a 8800GT 640MB card. Crazy that the iMac runs EQ much faster than the better spec'd regular PC. You will also love the LCD panel, it makes EQ look incredible. I would whole-heartedly recommend this to anyone. In fact, all of my future machines will be Apples and run Bootcamp for windows. The setup and reliability was LIGHT YEARS better than building my own machine, and having the ability to re-boot into Mac to do my photography and video work is a lifesaver (iPhoto and iMovie are incredibly awesome and easy to use applications). Contact me if you have any specific issues with getting things setup. |
