Man you must really have the spell effects turned WAY up if you're seeing flashes and hearing pops! 
Still think some type of breaker tripped and reset itself. My own machine beeps an alarm and shuts off if it over heats, the bios has built in temp readers on MB and monitors it. It will sometimes reboot right after if temp isn't very high. |

A co-worker suggested it may have been either 1) static discharging (it's been unusually humid here) or 2) a spider/critter got into power supply and shorted it out. I don't see many insects in my computer room so I'm hoping it was static. That seems like the most innocuous explanation and the one I'm hoping for. |
