I'm also in the market. I have been playing EQ on a Dell laptop from time to time and considering its age it's ok. From what I have seen now HP seems to give the most "bang for your buck" but I'm still digging around. My main problem is I need the laptop for work, not play, but want it to be able to play games also. As soon as you look at laptops for gaming you are stuck with at least 1.7 inches thick and about 8 pounds....not very portable. My current laptop has been great but hard to lug around. I'll post anything I stumble upon. |

I play EQ on my laptop whenever I travel, but it is about 4 years old now and quite clunky. I once had a technical problem with it and upon calling EQ tech support was told: "It is our company policy not to support EQ on laptops. Sorry, but we can't help you" Drex |

My new laptop for work is a Dell Latitude D600 that has 265 megs RAM. It comes with a a Pentium M 1.4 ghz processor (that has the power equivelent to a P4-2.4 ghz) and an ATI MOBILITY chip with 32 megs video RAM, and a built-in 802.11(b) card (if you have a wireless network). The Hard Drive spins slow than I'd like (but that's normal for a laptop) and I wish it had more RAM (but that's something that could be ordered if I wanted to be stuck with extra useless RAM when the lease is up). It runs EQ better than my current EQ desktop (800 mhz). I have no clue what it costs, but it's a good laptop. |
