Is it hot in your computer room? Can you tell if the fan in your computer is still working? I've heard of computers locking up from overheating - I think Malbro had that problem at one time. |

Of limited usefulness: I've never had "total lock up" in game until it happened to me last week. I did NOT go link dead, but tried hitting a dozen diff't buttons (spacebar, alt-enter, etc etc) to try to get some response. About 30 seconds (couldn't have been longer, but seemed like an eternity) I came back to life and resumed play. To my party it looked like I was just standing there the whole time. I've done nothing new to my computer either, except to begin loading LDoN files and going through the normal patches. Drex |

heat doesnt seem to be an issue, but sadly dust might be. cleaned out cpu and running atm. i doubt that is the fix, but so far not locking up. ive walked away from it with it locked up before, came back 15 minutes or so later and still nothing. durezil |

You might try also pulling out the cards and memory one at a time and cleaning them with a pencil eraser where the pulg into the motherboard. |

Believe it or not dust CAN be a problem. Why? Dust inside your computer acts as an insulator, which results in overheating problems. A thick enough coating on the circuits or clogging the fins of your heat sinks can cause as many problems as a fan breaking down. It just takes longer to accumulate that much dust. Depending on the conditions in your computer room you'll want to buy a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of your machine every couple of months. Make sure to get all the cooling fins, fans, and vent holes; don't forget the power supply fan and vents. If you have pets (Kai and I have a dog and 2 cats) it gets worse, so you'll have to clean more often. |
