Normally I wouldn't endore the Sony Marketplace, but I'm making 1 exception.

They are currently offering a for 500 Station Cash ($5.00 real money) which goes around giving hugs when summoned. Silly trinket, but proceeds go to a good cause. Now through Monday the 18th for each one sold, Sony is donationg $10 to Haitian Aid. This is a good way to contribute to Haiti since the $5.00 you spend gets matched by Sony, making it go even further.

I looked for that under the marketplace and didn't see it. I think it's a great way to donate.

When you go to the ingame Marketplace, it is 4th item down on the left, or if you click on 'Pets and Familiars' it is top right item.

I plan to be in the guild hall for a little while before tomorrows raid so people can see what it does.

I bought one for Rayma, my trader, and it is plain cute. Recast time is one minute, but you hold it longer than that, so I suspect the recast time is simply for the hug emote. I then switched to Arbrah and bought one for her too. I think you can buy as many as you want per toon, as long as your station cash holds out. I received 1000 station tokens (or whatever they call them) just for being there. I used 500 for Rayma's bear and 500 for Arbrah's. I'm now broke, but if I had more station cash, I could have bought more huggy bears

We tried some in the guild hall last night, and I'm wondering if they're "working as intended." More than half the time they didn't show up. They seem to have three options, which are random: hugging someone, mauling someone, or playing dead in the floor. Each time it appeared (except when it was playing dead), it was so brief that if you blinked you missed it - literally.

And this is my own expectation at fault - I thought it would be something little and cute, kind of like the druid's pet. Instead it's large, like a shaman in bear form.

Regardless of whether it works AT ALL, this is still a worthy cause for our donations, IMO. Plus it makes me smile when I open my inventory and see it sitting in the ammo slot.

Wow, I just got the bear today and it WAS little and cute; I just held her in my hand. I tried it a number of times and each time I "cast" it, my toon emoted a big hug. But the bear just stayed in my hand.

I wonder if they "fixed" it.

Nope, just cast twice and no bear. It's still random as to whether it even shows up or not.

They have admitted, in answer to a petition to someone, that it is definitely broke and have told the Devs.
