Hello Everyone!

10/10/2008 is a day that will live in ... well, not infamy; but it's certainly a good date to start a new guild. :)

With the approval of the EQ1 WoV officers, Amistica, Malbro, Dmien and I have started a new guild on the Unrest server of EQ2 -- <Wayfarers of Veeshan>. It's been fun to see them in game again, and I'm looking forward to playing with them when they can make it in to EQ2.

I'm also looking forward to playing with anyone else from WoV and friends who plays EQ2 on Unrest. I'm not advocating you to switch games--just letting you know that we're out there and that we'll be happy to play EQ2 with you. :)

Funny thing happened to me last night, too. Two days after being tagged WoV, and I got a tell from another EQ2 player who used to play EQ1 on Veeshan. He and I were guildmates in Primus Exodus; it was fun to catch up with him after all these years.

Avast! WoV dinged level 10 in EQ2 on Friday. I just got around to setting up a photobucket account so I could post the image, hehe. Hope you guys are having fun with the new EQ1 expansion!

(The yellow text is a serverwide message that's sent out when a guild hits a milestone level in EQ2.)

Thanks, and will do! :)

I'm particularly looking forward to guild level 15--that's when we get to design a guild cloak. (Yeah, EQ2 has visible cloaks. Love it!)

You were probably already aware of it, but you can join EQ Channels from EQII (and vice versa).

From the EQ2 FAQ forum at http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/post ... _id=421231

Cross-Server and Cross-Game Chat Channels

* To join a chat channel on a different EQII server, type /join servername.channelname
* To join a chat channel in SWG, type /join swg.servername.channelname
* To join a chat channel in EQ, type /join eq.servername.channelname
* To join a chat channel in Matrix, type /join mxo.servername.channelname
* To join a chat channel in Planetside, type /join ps.servername.channelname
* To join a chat channel in Vanguard, type /join vgd.servername.channelname

For tells its pretty much the same format, /tell game.servername.playername. Make sure to use an underscore if there is a space in a servername, like Antonia_Bayle.

To join a channel from EQ to EQII, it's /join eq2.servername.channelname

For passworded channels it can be a bit tricky; IIRC in EQII I had made a hotkey to join them since EQII doesn't seem to remember them properly ( It's "/join eq.servername.channelname password" note the space between them; in EQ it's a ":" I believe)

Aye, the cross-server chats are handy. I used to join the Alliance Raiders chat channel, but people don't seem to use it anymore. I haven't heard of any other generic chat channels that folks I know hang out in; but I have sent the occasional cross-server tell. It's a handy way to keep in touch with folks in the other games. (One of Sony's true flashes of brilliance, actually, lol!)

Evil server glitch ate my post about Ding 15 and WoV guild cloak in EQ2, heh. I'll post the picture again when I get home.

Heh, I actually forgot to do it last night (Ami and I went out IRL and then I started playing EQ2 without doing anything else online when I got home, lol) but remembered that I uploaded all the pics to Photobucket so don't actually have to be "home" to show you all ...

Image

Sure, Guild Level 15 isn't a 'milestone' level per se, but it is the level where EQ2 guilds can create heraldry to display on their visible in game cloaks. (And it's worth noting that I dinged the guild to 16 last night instead of rebuilding this post, har!!)

So, without further ado, here's the <Wayfarers of Veeshan> EQ2 guild cloak!

Image

In memory of Veeshan's flight through the interstellar void and discovery of Norrath, the WoV cloak is a crystalline (okay, grey) dragon on a space-black field. It's kinda funny that another Veeshan-themed guild on Unrest server has similar heraldry registered; their (<From Veeshan's Claw>) dragon is a dark blue-grey instead of grey.

At guild level 30 we'll be able to add a border to the cloak. That costs a sick amount of money (10 or 15 EQ2 Platinum) so we'll see how soon after GL30 that happens, lol! My original post had an explanation of the differences between EQ1 and EQ2 money, and I'm not gonna retype it. Suffice to say, one EQ2 Platinum equals 1 million EQ2 coppers (versus the 1000 EQ1 PP you could buy with 1M EQ1 CP) so it takes a lot of orc pawns to rack up very "few" plat in EQ2. I've been playing for a few months now and have only made (before tradeskilling expenses) something like 12 or 13 plat. I need to pillage more, AVAST!

I hope you enjoy the pics; now that I've discovered the joys of posting screenies I'm sure to send more. :)

Arrr, the new Avatar on the boards is a pic of Gealaen in EQ2. I'll have to try another with mroe ambient light, although the soft light and warm wood tones in the Kelethin bank do set off my skin tone nicely. The low light kinda kills some of the texture on my armor and cloak though, lol!

Thanks for the pics, Gealaen.

I now have cloak envy.

Yeah, the cloaks are pretty nice. I particularly like being able to put guild heraldry on them. As I've personally thought for years in EQ1, they should be able to implement that kind of new graphics for EQ1 player models.

I've asked this once here and in a pm to Gealaen but here goes again:

How does one go about getting the cloak in EQ2? Do I go to the guild registrar?

I saw your post, Mal, and I believe it was in the time frame where posts and PMs were lost to the server crash. There were a couple of PMs I had to recreate myself.

Heh, I just noticed and responded to Malbro's PM (sorry again--didn't realize I had any PMs) but I'll reply here too, so that the general knowledge is out there, and all. Hey board admins--is there an option to make the "New Messages" thingie highlight red and blink they way the Mail link did on Guildportal? *ducks*

EQ2 guild cloak heraldry isn't a special cloak or anything like that; you just wear whatever cloak you have (with some exceptions) and check the Option box for 'show guild heraldry'. Your cloak will then display the guild heraldry texture instead of the default texture of the cloak. Some special cloaks (like the Cloak of Flames and the two cloaks from the Haloween event and tradeskills) can't be overwritten with the guild heraldry texture, but most of the cloaks in the game will take the new texture.

There are quite a few easy lowbie tasks that will give you cloaks, including one that starts in Kelethin around level 6 or so.
