Took us long enough, but the EQ2 chapter of WoV dinged guild level 20 today. Every time you hit one of those round number dings it announces it server wide (the yellow text in the pic above) and it's always fun to get gratz'd by whoever chimes in at the time. Yay!

EQ2 has guild levels? Interesting.. out of curiosity, what does a guild's level do for them? (And what raises a guild's level)

A bit rusty on what it does, but you raise the levels by doing writs and missions that give status points for you and your guild.

There are some 'fluff' benefits to guild leveling; things like custom guild heraldry on your visible cloaks, special items you can put in your house/guild hall, etc. Guild halls are new, and have lots of goodies that your guild can buy (but we have to get to level 30 to get the basic guild hall still, hehe). Mostly guild leveling is a nice "mine's bigger than yours" for the l33t players; something for everyone to work on when they're tired of leveling or grinding AAs.

There are special quests in EQ2 called Writs that give you status with the major city guilds from the city you're aligned with (Kelethin, in the case of WoV in EQ2). 10% of the status you earn is also awarded to your guild, and those status points are what level the guild. There's even an "XP bar" in the guild management window, to see how it's going, lol!

Sunday night I was doing tradeskill writs to level up Sanwych and now WoV is almost up to level 21 ... the Tier Eight writs have a nice status payout (Sanwych is tradeskill level 73 now; pushing him to 80 so I can get an XP bonus for having a max level toon, lol).

Plus one of the biggest advantages to Guild levelling was to get an extra row of Guild Bank space IIRC. I know that's one reason we writ-grinded in Tranquil Waters.

Yeah, there is that, too. Ironically, EQ2's WoV doesn't have a single thing in any of the guild banks yet, lol. Maybe I'll give Malbro and Dmien some presents for their toon classes, hehe.
