If I claim the veteran rewards for an existing alt and then decide to delete that character, will they become available for another alt?

No, once used, they are permanently attached to that particular character and not available for another.

Yeah Tan is right, which I think sucks since you should be allowed to choose which rewards you want for a certain character. i was hoping to throw my 2nd year vet reward on my enchanter and i found out that i cant

I'm not sure I'm understanding this. I have Dorann, Zayphres, Felgarn, Fellocia, and a couple others, all on the same account. They ALL have the same vet rewards, They have all of them I'm currently allowed which is all but the last one (vet gate). I understand that the rewards are for the account, not the character so even a new character gets all the rewards for a 7 year old account. Now if you have used all your character slots and delete and replace that character I'm not sure if it would change things. Even my new Drakkin just got all of them the first night I logged her on when I claimed them.

Am I misunderstanding or just lucky?

Just lucky. I've deleted chars with Vet AAs and lost them until the next anniversary date.

okay, let me try explaining a little better ...

For each year of account credit that you have, you get 1 veteran reward AA.
For each year of account credit ,you can apply your accumulated veteran rewards to 1 character.

Example time:
Syzygy has 2 years of account time. Syzygy can apply 2 veteran rewards to 2 characters.
Mixlplix has 7 years of account time. Mixlplix can apply 7 veteran rewards to 7 characters.

This is not per server, it is per account.

If you delete a character that has veteran rewards, that "slot" is gone forever, as it is tied to that particular character.
When the next anniversary date comes up, you will recieve the next vet reward and one more veteran character "slot".

I think I'm entitled to six and I've used them on only three chars, but I was just planning ahead . . .
