I'm actually quite relieved to see this. The /barter and /buyer commands from the new Barter hall are actually quite nice and should work well for folks. The problem in the current implementation is that there have never been more than 10 buyers up in the Barter Hall.

This was discussed greatly on the EQLive boards and EQTraders with everyone agreeing that the zones would work much better combined.

I think this will probably happen on the next regularly scheduled large patch day in March, so likely the 15th or so.

There is a 6 hour patch scheduled for tonight which may be perfect for the friday hunt thing since most vendors are full of junk at the moment. This will reset them all and give people time to dump stuff on them. Hopefully you will be able to find some good stuff before the other vendor miners get to it all.

According to eqtraders forums the barter hall entrance in PoK will now connect directly to the bazaar. That is of course still subject to change.
