He should go to Windows Update and download the critical patches for Windows XP. This will patch the security hole that Blaster used to infect the system.

There is a specific Blaster worm removal tool available from Symantec/Norton Antivirus:

It is HIGHLY recommended to use an up to date antivirus tool.
Several free ones are available. I personally use AVG, available from .
