I would like to get a thread going where we can post what we have learned during the first month since the release of LDoN.

What tactics have you found works best for each type of adventure ?
What classes do you like to group with in your adventures ?
How do you play your class to be your best during your adventures ?

Here is some Info that I have gathered so far:

Adventure Types

For the most part I have found "Slaughters" the easiest type of adventure, followed by "Boss Kill" and "Rescues". For me "Collections" are the hardest at this point, but I have heard that Sony is going to be tweaking them in the next patch.

Slaughter - These are all about DPS. You must kill 50 to 60 mobs in 90 minutes, that breaks down to killing one mob every 98 seconds on average. Your Tank does not have to be a Plate Class, Malbro has done great as our tank. Slowers are great here, but with very high DPS you can get by without one. You will need some form of Crowd Control, be it Mez, Root Park or Split Tanking. You can also get by with using a Druid as your healer, but if you dont have a slower in your group a Cleric is best.

One tactic I have found great for Slaughters is to get your puller to go get the next mob when you have the one that everyone is fighting down to 20% hps. This way everone can just switch to the next mob after the kill with no downtime.

Boss Kill - These take a bit more balance. It is best to have a Tracker or someone to use an Eye to scout for the Boss. Also you need a bit more Tankage for the Boss as they tend to hit pretty hard and the fight lasts longer than with other mobs. The Boss will not spawn until you kill 60% of the mobs in the zone. When he spawns everyone will get a message giving clues to his location. That is when your Tracker or Eye Scout needs to start looking for him. He will usually have 4 to 8 mobs around him.

Rescue - Once more, a Tracker/Eye Scout is a big help here. Clear a path to the NPC in need of rescue and /hail him. These can be done with any group that a Slaughter can be done with. Since you will be helping the NPC back out of the Dungeon is it best to kill all mobs on the way to the NPC so you dont run the risk of getting attacked on the way back out.

Collection - Collect 20 to 30 drops. These can be very easy, or impossible. I have done a few collections where we will get a drop we need off every other mob and we end up killing only 40 or 50 mobs. But then sometimes we have killed almost every mob in the zone and are still 5 or 6 drops short. Like I said, I have heard that Sony knows about this and plans on fixing it. But, until they do I try to avoid these since it all comes down to luck of the drop rate and not the skill of your group.

Reward Points

When you complete your adventure in 90 minutes you get points based on your level and the level of the Dungeon you were in. Those points get added to your total overall point total, and no matter which camp the adventure is for it all goes into one big point pool. Now, every time you do an adventure for each of the different Wayfarer camps they will remember how many points they gave you, and even tho you may have 500 total points if you have only earned 50 of those at one certain camp that is all you can spend there. You can buy ten items that cost 50 points each at the camp where you only earned 50 points, but you will never be able to buy anything that cost more than 50 points from that camp until you do more adventures for that camp. Also even if you spend all your points, each camp will still remember how many points you earned from them. So, if you go too a whole different camp and earn more points you can still go to another camp and spent the points from the other camp, but you will still just see the items that will cost the same of a bit above the current points that you have earned from that camp.

Other Tips

#1 - Make sure everyone has a fresh KEI before starting.
#2 - Make sure everyone buffed before going into the Dungeon.
#3 - Make sure everyone is FoM and not AFK before anyone goes in.
#4 - Make sure everyone knows their job and who the MT and ML is.
#5 - Once you zone in give your pet classes time to Cast/Buff the pets.
#6 - Try to find a pace that works for your group and stay focused.
#7 - Never give up. I have been in several groups where we came back from what looked like a certain loss.

Thanks Zeno, that clears up a lot about how points can be spent. That has been one of the things that bothers me about LDoN, but it makes more sense now.

Kaijene and I have successfully completed a couple of rescue missions, and lost one. We were able to do it by pacifying everything in the boss room. With two of us pacifying we were able to hold the entire room down for the couple of minutes necessary to extract the prisoner, and avoid a long fights that would have put us overtime. The one we lost came from too many mobs: pacify wore off on one at exactly the wrong time.

Our usual group consists of 4 tanks (SK, Pally, Warrior, Ranger), a cleric, and an enchanter. I'm beginning to wonder if the algorithm for computing the dungeon doesn't take into account how many tanks there are however, since in previous groups where we had a druid instead of the ranger the mobs didn't seem to hit for as much damage. Or maybe with a second healer I just didn't notice it as much. Replacing one tank with a secondary healer (druid or shaman) or a bard would probably increase our chances of success quite a bit.

The pacify pull technique is time consuming. If you have the DPS try to limit it as much as possible. Also remember it is short lived. We've had a half dozen mobs fall on us because they were pacified too soon (while another fight was going on), and it wore off as a new mob was pulled. Again timing is critical; I guess we are still getting it down.

Rangers, Rangers, Ranger. I know alot of you are rollin your eyes right now, However I play laldass very well. When I am HP buffed belive it or not I can Tank! Yes that is right Rangers can Tank :P.

Ranger Between Weapon proc, Flame lick, Immonate, Snare and Taut I would like to see anyone take aggro away from me, Thus making the healers job/mana most efficent. Only really concerning themselves with me the (MT).
I have grouped with(Not put any other class down here, Please dont flame me) Worriors, Monks, and pally for what ever reason can not seem to keep aggro from not only my self but the casters.( yes I do jolt my ranger rear end off) Example gaining agro from a mob which has be mezzed for 2 mins and he is really ticked off at the enchanter or the cleric sitting down medding standing up to to heal WHAM! mobs on them DEAD cleric....Wipe
(SK's are incredable at holding agro as well)

Crowd Control cant find a mezzer for the answer is Ranger. Yes that is right Ranger. I have spent 3/4 of my life in Norrath soloing. CC is my game. Example Ranger pulling. UH OH! 2 adds relax... Root one..Back up...Root next...Back up.... Reroot and snare all mobs...DONE. Ranger are aslo extremely EXCELLENT at spliting. (I love spliting :P Got to love my lvl 9 agrro spell Flame lick)

DPS.....Nuff said. Rangers have attack buffs increasing the whole groups DPS. We also have some nice dots which stack on a mob for even more DPS.

Need a slower.... :P hehehe woot My Epic 50% slow, better then nothing. For you rangers with no epic. Get a . I happen to have one I dont need any more, If a Ranger (main) would like it it is worth the switching from 2hs to duel weild. Contact me.

Cleric having mana issues, Rangers w/ KEI can assist in after battle heals.

Scouting (with bind sight, I can see in any room or around any corner) and Tracking... nuff said.

All classes have much to offer I personally belive with LDON the is NO key classes for a sucess, it is how the toon is played. I have been playing in a group regulary with no cleric or mezzer in LDON. Ranger,Mage,Shammy,Monk,Druid and Rouge every time we get to gather we totally own! Its all about Tactics and team work. Understanding what your role is in all stituations.

Ok well im ranting on, I could go on and on with LDON I love it, Would just like to agree with Durezil I have found pacifing a complete time sink and mana drain. I suggest pull with root, do a little crowd controll and droppem with DPS ASAP!

**Remember Rangers are your friend

Wow ! Great info from everyone. I love reading what tactics others use.

Here is what I do as a Wizzy:

1)Once the group gets formed I always get a fresh KEI.

2)Mem my saved "LDoN Spell set" that goes like this:
#1 = Agnarr's Thunder (My main Damage spell)
#2 = Draught of Thunder ( Damage + 0 sec stun for Interruping casters)
#3 = Tears of Ro ( Rain spell that I use when only one mob is in camp)
#4 = Harvest ( Gives me a little over 300 every 10 minutes)
#5 = Concussion ( Decrease Hate by 400 )
#6 = Greater Fetter (3 min. Root I use for Crowd Contol if needed)
#7 = Atol's Spectral Shackles ( Snare )
#8 = Evac ( Just incase )
I switch out my damage spells based on what resists the mobs have.

3) /em crosses fingers and hopes for a "Slaughter Mission".

4) Port group to near zone-in, or run there if its not far.

5) Buff myself with my self-buffs and summon a new Familiar. Find out who MT and ML is and set my "Assist Key".

6) If I am the Crowd Contol I ask for a HP buff of some type, cause I get hit a little more, hehe.

7) Once inside I cast Force Shield ( 750 Damage absorber).

8] On single pulls I just nuke with Agnarr's Thunder. It does over 2500 damage with my ID4 belt and crits up to 5010. If we get a caster or CH'er I toss in a few Draught of Thunders to stop the mobs casts.

9) If we get adds and I am on CC I cast my Snare. That usually gets the mob to come after me, but if it dont I cast a nuke on it and that always works. Then I pull it away from the group and Root it. If we get a several mob pull I do just as above but root each one in a different location and keep them rooted while the group kills and moves from mob to mob. My Force Shield usually holds up and keeps me from taking much if any damage, but I usually recast it after all the mobs that were pulled are dead.

10) If we are doing a "Boss Kill" or "Rescue" I start scouting with my eye alot while the puller is getting the next mob or while the mob is in run-mode. Even if we are not in a Boss Kill or Rescue I still scout around and look for named mobs if we have no tracer. Scouting is also a great way to find dead-ends and such, so I can help the puller.

11) I also play the roll of "Cheerleader" alot  . I keep everyone posted on how well we are doing and try too keep everyone spirts up if we start getting behind.

12) And I can always Evac if needed. That is the good thing about LDoN, you can Evac and just run right back to where you were with very little downtime.

Well, that is how my life is while in LDoN. I must say that this is by far my favorite expansion EVER. I have always love a good Dungeon Crawl !!!
