This is a new thread, to consolidate all the WoV Scavenger Hunt information, and hopefully avoid confusion. Please post new teams on this thread as they form.
What: A WoV Scavenger Hunt
Who: All members of the guild, between levels 29 and 58 (inclusive), in teams of 3.
When: Sunday, October 12, 1pm-3pm EASTERN time (12-2 Central, 11-1 Mountain, 10-Noon Pacific)
Where: Meeting place to be announced, but the hunt itself will take you to dozens of zones in the game (excluding any LDoN ones)
Why: To have fun with your guild family.
There has been some confusion so I've tried to answer everything in the FAQ below:
Q) How do I form and register a team?
A) Ask 2 other WoVs from 29-58th level who want to participate and form a team! Register by either posting here, or telling Palan or Drexxell in game.
Q) What's with the confounded silly rumors?
A) The "rumors" were spread by Palan and I *SOLELY* to give you some criteria for building your teams. MOST of the rumors are true, but we added a few false ones in the HOPE that it'd make things fun. If you don't get it, or think the whole "rumor" thing was a bad idea, we strongly urge you to IGNORE THE RUMORS and just build your team however you like. This is supposed to be FUN!
Q) Why'd you restrict the levels?
A) We made the level minimums and maximums based on Wizard and Druid porting spells, as well as giving every team a chance to win. Level 59+ characters were (rightly or wrongly) viewed as having far too great a chance to get every item, with ease, and thus remove the FUN for lower level characters trying to compete. Characters below 29 had no access to group ports (somewhat negated by using PoK) and couldn't really survive in half the zones we hope to use for the hunt. We apologize for any hurt feelings. This is supposed to be FUN!
Q) What are the rules?
A) The rules are simple:
1) This is a TEAM competition. Teams consist of 3 Wayfarers of Veeshan.
2) All participants must be between 29th and 58th level, inclusive.
3) The lowest level member of each team MUST be the Master Looter and is required to be the person who picks up EVERY item in the Scavenger Hunt.
4) Highest points wins. Points are scored by returning your Master Looter to the judges and verifying items. Lower level teams will be given point multipliers based on the highest member of the team (if your highest member is 29-38, you get X 5 multiplier; if your highest member is 39-48, you get X 3 multiplier; if your highest member is 49-58 you get no multiplier)
5) All players must have ANON turned *OFF* during the Hunt.
6) No 2- (or 3-) boxing will be allowed.
7) All expansions and zones (except LDoN) are required.
Q) How will the hunt work?
A) At 1 pm Eastern time, all teams will be in the designated starting zone. All participants will join *2* channels. One will be a SPAM channel where the full item list will be regularly spammed and there will be NO chat allowed. The other channel will be for chat during the hunt. At 1 pm the list will be spammed to the list channel, including the NAME of the item, its ZONE and its POINT VALUE. Teams will then have 20 minutes to develop a strategy. At the 20 minute mark, the judges will give the green light, and teams may then leave the start zone and will have 1 hour and 40 minutes to return their master looter to the judges. Items will then be verified. Prizes to the highest scoring team will be handed out and hopefully we'll all say "That was fun"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
RUMORS will be posted below. REMEMBER, they are ONLY to add a degree of FUN to the team building process. You are welcome to ignore the rumors and build a team as you like. However, keep in mind that MOST of the below rumors are true.
1)I heard that some of the items will have to be pried from the cold, dead hands of a monster.
2) I heard that players capable of disguising themselves will be useful."
3) I heard that players with high tradeskills will have an advantage.
4) I heard that expert Fishers will be useful on the team
5) There's little doubt the a team with a Forager will have an advantage
6) There's at least one item worth a lot of points, behind a door that can only be opened by picking the lock.
7) Who doesn't need a porter?
8 ) It's a shame that the usefulness of the Begging Skill is often completely ignored by players.
9) [New 10/8/03] "Dragons.....Why'd it have to be DRAGONS?"
