Good morning everyone. As many of you may have heard, Sanctus went through some hard times last evening. We had been going through some trials and tribulations in our council over the past months and last night was a culmination of those issues and troubles.
I will not air any dirty laundry nor besmirch anyone's name. I will tell you that we had tried very hard to talk out our issues, both in game and on the telephone with one another. However, some problems cannot be solved through talking them out, no matter how hard we try. As guild leader, I found myself stradling these problems. I also found myself unwilling to choose sides and I remained as impartial as humanly possible.
Over the last several days, I have had little sleep as I tried to find a way to make everyone happy. I have talked with many of the officers on the telephone as well as talking with Valkeria on the telephone. What I discovered is that everyone was miserable and everyone was tired of the arguing and finger pointing. Valkeria stated she would be leaving in a week if things did not change. Others in the council had also stated the same.
Last night, I called a meeting of the council. I formally asked Valkeria to step down. Valkeria agreed to do so...and she did so in a very calm professional manner. Valkeria was a class act all the way and said her goodbyes and wished Sanctus well. Val truly cares about Sanctus and she put her heart and soul into the guild...and that is why she agreed to my request...for the good of Sanctus. Valkeria will always remain a friend to Sanctus and we will always be there to assist her and help her. What happened has nothing to do with Valkeria's character as a person. This was the only way for us to move past our problems and for Sanctus to grow healthy and for Valkeria to start enjoying the game again as well.
The rumors of Sanctus' demise have been greatly exaggerated. We did lose a small handful of people (7) and we expect to lose a few more. Many of these people were newly joined members and close friends of Valkeria that followed their hearts and left when she did. As always, we will never hold any grudges to anyone that chooses to follow their heart.
Also, Meff Vanwearin, the sometimes foolheardy but always kind and generous Druid left us last evening. It has come to my attention that he has or will be applying to WoV. If you have not extended him a guild invite, please do so...I recommend him without hesitation.
On behalf of our family at Sanctus, I would like to thank our extended Wayfarer family for all of their support and kind words. Our alliance remains strong, Sanctus remains strong...and we look forward to many, many happy days together.
