I found out that I had a virus/worm that was causing my annoying pop-ups.

So I've been spending the evening backing up all of my files that I want to keep and re-installing Windows from scratch.

I hope to be up and running again within a day or 2.

Ugh, Laffer this same thing has happend to me. I have done all that I could Ad-aware 6.0, Spybot, Running anti-virus proggies, Disc scan, Defraging anything and everything I could think of. Still I am having problems. For example I can not click through any hypertext links it causes my Ips freeze up(AOL stinks) and I have noticed my system has become much slow thener what it was The stragest thing it seems to have created some short of delay from when dealing with anything from my task bar. when I click there is sometimes 10 to 20 second delay when trying to highlight any submenu. Also when and if I recieve a POP-UP add behind EQ I creates and effect just like ALT-ENTER in game to get to my desktop of IPS. For a while the I was have movement issues in game also do to POP-up ads askin to download soft-ware it was very annoying.

Any of this sound fimilar? I would really hate to even attempt to back up my whole system I have 67gigs of an 80 gig hard drive filled with pics, music, games the usally stuff.

What happens if I take both the red and the blue pill at the same time?

I usually try to rebuild my system 2 or 3 times a year, just to make sure everything is clean and up-to-date.

I've fallen behind. It has been about 18 months since I've re-installed, so I was due.

I spent about 3 hours backing up information that I wanted to keep onto Del's computer last night before even starting to re-install. Then I installed it wrong, so I have to start over again, but that's not too bad.

I should be up and running by late tonight or tomorrow.

I know just enough about computers to be dangerous. My plan is just to let the system deteriorate and buy a new computer every 3 years

Ladd that sounds more like the wehchia worm and not the worm blaster, I would look for a patch for it. I do know that Nortons cannot quarantene or delete it. There is a patch for it at microsoft downloads site, cant remember number right now of the patch but that might help
