Hello all :)

Sorry for the short notice, but I was looking at my schedule and this will be the last weekend for a month, that I will have a day off :( What I would like to propose is this...

Plane of Hate

Goal: To get the Hand of the Maestro, putting Big Vae only one kill from Epic, and getting as many drops as we can for as many people as we can. Healers and porters permitting, I plan on staying until the Hand is mine!

Start time: Around 6pm EST as long as there is enough interest is going and I can get a wizzy for ports.

Meeting Place: PoK port in.

I know this is short notice, but would really like to end having my last weekend for a while with a bang and a WOOT :) If this can be posted on the calendar and Guild MoTD, that would be great :)

I think I should be able to help ... Maestro is doable even with a single group of 60+s if you have a good tank and a healer (and everyone else listens) -- but more people is better.

What is your final kill after the hand?

Please keep in mind, I'm not much of a cleric. I know I'm a bard....

From the Newb Cleric's point of view :

I try to learn how my tank will stand up to the mobs we are fighting and adjust my healing to suit. I get a feel for when I have to heal that will best use my mana. If I start my Complete Heal when the tank is at 60% say, and by the time the heal lands he's back up to 80% or 90%, then I feel like I've wasted my mana. When that happens 3 or 4 times in a row I start to adjust how I do my healing so as best to use my mana. This is all well and good! Two people watching the tank and all that. But by the time I adjust how I'm healing, suddenly that second persons healing doesn't show up once and I find myself doing catch up and everyone is in a little bit more danger for it.

In other words I start holding my CH back longer because someone out there is going to do a heal before my CH lands. Even with that person doing their heal I can make my Mana go farther by holding off and getting more bang for the buck. If the second heal doesn't come when expected, I can't let the 10 seconds go for my CH, so I have to use smaller faster heals several times (very hard on mana) to keep up with the damage he's taking. During this I have to try to keep up with the other peoples damage as I can.

My goal as a cleric when I play is to be as efficient as possible (hopefully zero down time) and to keep people alive.

I think two people healing is good. I don't mean to say otherwise. Perhaps it's just a lack of communication that makes it seem more difficult. I know a lot of Big raids have 'healer' channels where they keep track of what the healers are doing. Maybe in some hard fights the cleric could ask for extra support, or the druid or shaman could say 'hey i'm going to support you in healing the tank' and then when the can't they can say 'you cover it, I'm busy' if they stop that support.

I mean no offense by what I'm saying, just a newbie clerics point of view.

Is the point you're making that you want total responsibility for "your" tank's health? I have no problem with that. I understand your viewpoint. I can be responsible for the people in my group and no others, if that is what is preferred.

Alley ... I don't think it's preferred that you don't help heal. I am the world's worst when it comes to calling my heals. That's where I find it hard to heal with someone else helping. Alley always calls heals in group and channel or whatever. So as long as I call mine I usually save mana because she's helping. So as long as the cleric sees when that person is or isn't healing it shouldn't be a problem. As far as mana ... I guess it's better to use CH but I like the HoT cause usually the tank doesn't get under 80%. I'm not sure how many clerics know this so I'll let ya in on something I learned a while back. The level 56 Yaulp V is ... increase ATK by 50, DEX by 75, ATK speed by 25% and Mana by 10 per tick. At level 65 you get Yaulp VI. It is ... ATK by 60, DEX by 90, ATK speed 30% and Mana 12 per tick. I've found that using yaulp and standing the whole time not only helps me med faster but I never get sit agro. Since I found out about Yaulp I haven't used my lizard once. Also I don't have to sit there bored to death. I summon a hammer and beat on the mobs. I set my assist to just /assist with no name. Then I can assist the mob and heal my tank and assist him to get my mob back. It makes playing for me 10 times more fun and I usually stay FoM.

Okies...I feel a need to post on this subject...hehe

From the things I have observed in raid conditions, LDoN groups, pickup groups, etc., if on a raid type situation and in a more difficult zone, and providing more than one cleric is in raid, there is an established heal channel. Within this channel, each healer, whether druid or cleric, create a hotkey and each healer uses this hotkey to notify all healers of a heal being used. Additionally, all clerics are targeted to the MT and will use a rotation in healing the MT; with the druids picking up the miscellaneous heals throughout the raid party, with raid members calling out for heals. If for some reason the mob is a fast hitting mob and one that will take the tank down quickly, it is best to use druid heals in conjunction with cleric heals until the mob has been slowed and the tank has full control of the mob. One thing to always keep in mind is that if your MT bites the dust, the raid party might not be able to recover. Trick is to always keep the MT targeted....have a melee or caster type to shout out the hps left of the mob being engaged. Also, I am not sure what levels the quicker casting spells come along for the clerics, but I know from the melee/tank perspective with low hp's who is constantly being placed in a MT position, these spells have proven to be beneficial in keeping this Inkietodiefor alive. So in otherwords, CH at some point takes a back seat to this line of spells, I am thinking, but not positive because I have not researched this....just going on experience from the tank perspective.

Bottomline, communicate and make sure the left hand knows what the right hand is doing so you can keep your tank up and running throughout the battle with the big bad beasties. I hope my input helps some.

/hugs :)

I'm not saying my viewpoint is right. And it's not my viewpoint that I have to be the only one to watch 'my tank'. I'm just A/R about mana efficency I think. Mana that is used to heal someone for 1000 hp that would have just as easily healed for 5000 hp might be better spent helping kill the mobs faster with a nuke.

My point was that if people share the duty of healing the tank then they need to keep in contact and work out how it will happen.

To Lacries point, dealing with uber mobs that kill faster than one person can heal is a different matter than a hunt or raid in which one person is capable of keeping up with the heals. There will be mana waste, of necessity, when you have to have mulitple people keeping up with damage with uber mobs.

True, but, point to ponder .....one day do you anticipate raiding against these types of "uber" mobs or find yourself in these types of raid conditions? Being on the subject of healing protocal, I just thought it was worth tossing into the ring for mention because practicing and understanding now paves the way for the future, so to speak. Anyhow...with time and communications you guys will get this down to a fined tuned machine....no worries there. Keep it up and aim high.
