I have to say as a member of our guild for a year now, up until today I was not sure where to find new information on upcoming events. Sounds kind of stupid I know, but I was use to the guild motto saying "yada yada ...meet at bird bath at 6:30 central" or something like that and then I used to look at the calendar to see what was going on. Now with the guild motto only saying if you need to know something go to the website, I get discouraged. Tonight there is obviously a raid, and I knew nothing of it, one because I havent gone to guild website in a week, but two because I could not find the listing for current events. I did find it tonight, and it is in an obvious place I guess. I probably wont attend any more raids than I did in the past, but it would be nice to have had the option of knowing in advance somehow other than just going to the website to find out, that there was a raid planned. I miss the calendar is my point I guess, as well as the guild motto just plain out right saying " time and place to meet, and target unknown"

I'll attempt to address these particular concerns.

Every member is required to post on the boards, at minimum an introduction. This hopefully would encourage them to see that we conduct a great deal of our business on these boards. One simply cannot rely upon information solely in game to relay all of the activities that are occurring. There is a limited amount of space on the GMotD.

We have embarked on a new alliance with a raiding guild. Targets are NOT set prior to gathering a raid force on the night in question. We absolutely cannot post strats or other information ahead of time for that nights raid, as no one knows what we're going to be hitting. All of the raid strats that we have available to us are either on these boards or on the Heroes boards. Those strats are required reading for the raids. Heroes raids every other night at the same time. I guess we could put that in the GMotD, but how would that help?

If you do not visit the boards more than once a week, or every couple of weeks ... you are going to miss out on a great deal of guild activity.
In a week, we may have multiple new applicants, someone moving on, several events for epics or quests, a few raids, ... one never knows.

These boards are here as a service to our guild members to let ALL of us know what's going on.

The boards were upgraded to a newer version of the boards software for several reasons. Security of our accounts was primary among those reasons. Unfortunately, there is NOT a calendar modification that I'm comfortable installing on this version yet, although several are being worked on by the boards community. I have a running list of things that need to be accomplished on these boards. They'll get addressed as I have time.
